Musical Keyboards are electronic devices that are played in the same way as a piano, they are very popular because they are cheaper and much smaller than a piano and offer a good quality sound. Musical keyboards are very popular with children who are learning to play the piano or keyboard at school or at music lessons, this is because they are fun to play as they offer lots of sound effects and most can actually sound just like a piano. There are many features to look out for when buying a musical keyboard, the first is the number of keys. There are two main sizes when it comes to the amount of keys on a musical keyboard, the standard piano has 88 keys so there are the full size keyboards with 88 keys and then there are smaller keyboards with 61 keys. The small keyboards are better for beginners and children as they are easier to play, when the keyboard user becomes more confident and has more ability then it is better to move up to a full sized keyboard.

The amount of different sound effects and rhythms available with the keyboard is also an important consideration, the more sound effects that the keyboard has the more the keyboard user can vary the sound as they play. Music keyboards have literally hundreds of different sounds so that all kinds of effects can be achieved, the cheaper keyboards generally have around 100 sound effects where as the more professional keyboards can have over 500. The sound effects available with the keyboards also make playing the keyboard more fun for children, this is important as children can become bored very quickly so something like sound effects that makes playing the keyboard more interesting and fun can only be a good thing.

Keyboards also often have inbuilt songs that can be played automatically by the keyboard, this helps teach keyboard users how to play those songs and also adds some more fun to the keyboard use. Some keyboards also have inbuilt lessons that can be used to teach the keyboard user how to play the songs, these features really do help people to learn how to play the keyboard so are well worth looking out for.

Most music keyboards have several standard features, they all have an AC adaptor which is used to power the musical keyboard and connects to any standard power supply. Most music keyboards also have a headphone socket so that the keyboard can be used in private or late at night when you do not want others to hear. Another feature that is standard these days is computer compatibility, this means that you can connect the keyboard to your computer using a USB cable and record or edit the music you have played on the keyboard.

So when buying a musical keyboard online there are a few things to look for, normally the most important considerations are the amount of keys and the amount of sound effects that the music keyboard offers. Most people buy Yamaha keyboards as Yamaha are by far the brand leader and have been providing quality music keyboards for years, as well as Yamaha there are other brands like Casio available but they are not as popular. If you are looking for a cheap musical keyboard then you can go for the smaller keyboards with fewer features, you can also get a cheap music keyboards by shopping around as many of the shops sell cheap musical keyboards and also have cheap special offers and deals.
